Here's one by Humberto Barreto and Frank M. Howland from the Econometrics department of Wabash College.

I think the real advantage of this Monte Carlo analysis Excel add-in over others is its simplicity in use, installation instructions and (what I hear to be) good ongoing support provided by its developers / authors.

Here's a description of the Excel add-in from their website:

This add-in, MCSim.xla, enables Monte Carlo simulation from any Excel sheet. The logic is quite simple: you select a cell that has or depends upon a random number (using either Excel's RAND or our RANDOM function) and the add-in recalculates the sheet for as many repetitions as you request. It outputs the results to a new sheet with summary statistics and a histogram. You may Monte Carlo more than one cell and you have several other options.

Hi Yugesh,

I am Dulanjie Workig on a construction project for a new business. I need to evaluate the risks and variables undelying the different scenarios with respect to this project. I would be thankfull if you can send me the montecarlo X cel, if you have already reeived it, since it will make my workload much easier ,simpler and accurate.
Hi Dulanjie

MC Sim.xla file is already uploaded in ths forum by our friend Retha...

Apart from that i hvnt used any other software for MC analysis...

Many thanks. I'll use it for my school project work.
Hello all,

There exists an excellent alternative in terms of software for Monte Carlo Analysis. It is SIMULAR, developed by Professor Luciano Machain from the National University of Rosario in Argentina. I suggest you visit his web page at: http://www.simularsoft.com.ar/

You don't have to pay for the software but professor Machain acepts donations or at least an example of a model where his package was successfully used.

Regards,

Enrique

Hello,

I developed a new risk analysis tool called Statscorer. It allows do to Monte Carlo simulations within Excel.

I will be interested to know your opinion since it's a bit different from its competitors: you can correlate directly input variables with formal expression (e.g.: X3=Exp(X1)+ln(X2^2+1), ...), export raw data in a text file and other stuffs. I will give a free 3-month subscription to the readers of finance 3.0 (this offer runs until march 2011 ;-).

Just send me an email to support@statscorer.com mentioning you are a reader of Finance 3.0

You can visit www.statscorer.com for further details.

Bye,

Robin

I've also tried the free add-in for Excel called YASAI and YASAIw, Along with the commercial @Risk from Palisade.

Are there any similar (free or paid) add-ins for OpenOffice Calc?
