The work "quasi" comes from the latin language and means: materially identical but with some different aspects. It is often used to describe following "cash like" items:
-casino gaming chips
•money orders
•travelers cheques
and other items that have the same the material value as cash but have to be differently handled to be used as cash.
You will find the term "quasi" often used under IAS, IFRS, in connection with quasi-loans, quasi-debts, etc. Under both regulations, the quasi cash is considered to be identical with "cash" for accounting purposes and reported on the same line under current assets.
