hi, i have done my masters in finance, i have been working for a bank in insurance and mortgages department for almost 9 years, now i am looking to get into financial portfolio management for corporates such as fund manger or financial analyst or acturies,

so please guide me what to start and from where

The position you are getting into requires some necessary skills, namely good communication, analytical abilities, ability to see/think from different angles, leadership, charisma and the ability to make right decisions at the right times. I advise you to first see some fund manager profiles on investment company sites and then look for the job description and requirements on job portals like financedirector[.]com, jobs1[.]co[.]uk, jobdatabases[.]co[.]uk etc. After all of that, assess yourself, and ask yourself if you have ability to do what the other experts are doing. If yes, then make a good CV or hire a resume writer and start surfing to find your dream job.

thanks alot for your views and input, i truly agree with your points as a requirment of good commnication skills and analytical abilities with a necessary skills for such a position, as i said i have been working with the bank apart from insurance and mortgages i was also handling a portfolio of more than 900 customers for there equity and debt investments.

peter actly i was thinking of enrolling myself for a CFA certification to get a thorough knowledge of investment in all sector. i have gone through some couple of job sites, do you think after completion of first level in CFA will i get an opportunity to start a career atleast to gain a practical knowledge about managing a fund in any investment banking firm.
