How to convert trial balance to chart of accounts

Here is an example of chart of accounts with standard numbering 1 -assets, 2 - liabilities etc.

You can make accounts with e. g. 8-digit numbers to further analyze the respective balances and charges.

For example:
2000 - accounts payable $1000

2000 0010 Payables (goods purchased) $600
2000 0020 Payables (royalty) $300
2000 0030 Payables (group companies) $100

and so on.

You may visualize each balance sheet/profit & loss caption as a single root of the tree of accounts, grouping together transactions of similar nature. This tree may have several levels of depth.

In many European countries the standard chart of accounts is used, you may try to find some of these charters translated into English.

Thanks 4 your co-operation its good for initial learner but i am specialized Managment accountant serving industry. i actually needed a large tial balance of any industry and related accounts for my pracice (Advanced Learner) if you have that please share

By the way i have also prepared a good grouping model for initial learners attached find it.please tell me any thing about it as well.

Dear, Yasir, i went through your Trial Balance spreadsheet & I liked it. I thought I could begin with it to try to transform it so that it accommodates my needs. However, I finding it difficult to undo and edit the pivots. How can I do that and is it possible that you send me one that isn't in pivot format. I am not really good with most excel features, only the basics. Thanks.

Hi Jimi Ndakaza,

Dear it looks that you are not familiar with piviot tables. you can not edit the contents of piviot table unless you change the source data used for developing piviot table.further clarify what you desire.

Yasir, true, am not familiar with using pivot tables, a thing am trying to teach myself and learn, albeit, slow. However, I thought I could use your template to help me model my Trial balance.
Can you please remodify it for me so I can be able to insert my figures and let it work for me. I will be most grateful. Thanks

This will take some time because piviot tables require the data to be organnized in some required pattern and then you can comup with very easy and usefull reports which in some cases might require 2 or 4 months.
I have a soft copy of a complete book on this feature but i will have to search it for you and i will do it soon and forward it to you.But now you can have look at attached file for what i said in preceeding paragraph and will know how usefull this tool is if u have command on it.
